Questions, answered with care

Everything you need to know about Life Legacy.

From the first memorial details to the QR code plaque and long-term family care, these answers explain how the service works and what your family can expect.

01

Getting started

How a Life Legacy memorial is created and cared for.

What is Life Legacy?

Life Legacy is a family-controlled digital memorial connected to a physical QR code plaque. It gives a family space to preserve a loved one’s life story, important dates, photographs and approved memories in far more detail than a gravestone inscription can hold.

How does the process work?

Choose a package and provide the customer, engraving and delivery details. Life Legacy prepares the plaque and activation invitation. The family activates the plaque, creates or connects the memorial, adds the first story and photographs, and can then invite others to contribute.

Who should create and manage the memorial?

The first administrator should be a trusted close family member or person authorised by the family. This person controls the memorial details, privacy and contributions. The family should agree who will take responsibility before activation.

What information do I need to begin?

You can begin with the person’s name, date of birth, date of passing and a main photograph. A funeral date, tribute, resting place, fuller life story and more photographs can be added later.

Do I need to finish the whole memorial at once?

No. Start with the information you have and return as the family feels ready. A meaningful life story often grows gently as photographs are found and relatives share memories.

02

The QR code plaque

What the plaque does and what happens over time.

What happens when someone scans the QR code?

The phone opens the memorial linked to that plaque. No special Life Legacy application is required; the visitor uses the camera or QR code scanner already available on most smartphones.

Does the QR code require internet access?

Yes. The QR code contains a web link, so the phone needs mobile data or Wi-Fi to open the memorial.

Can the QR code be scanned by any phone?

Most modern iPhone and Android cameras recognise QR codes automatically. Older devices may need a QR code scanning application.

Can someone change where my QR code points?

Only authorised Life Legacy processes can change the memorial connected to a plaque. The public code does not reveal the private activation code, and a visitor cannot take ownership simply by scanning it.

What if the plaque is damaged, lost or replaced?

Life Legacy can issue an authorised replacement while keeping the memorial destination unchanged. Family members can continue using the same memorial rather than starting again.

Where can the plaque be installed?

A plaque may be fitted to a gravestone, memorial wall, remembrance bench or another appropriate location, subject to the property owner, cemetery or local installation rules. Confirm permission and the correct fixing method before installation.

Do the packages include different QR code plaques?

No. Life Legacy has one QR code plaque, and every package includes the same plaque. The difference between packages is the capacity and automated digital features of the memorial—not the physical plaque.

03

Stories, photographs and family contributions

How a family builds the memorial together without losing control.

What can we add to a memorial?

A memorial can include biographical details, a tribute, a longer life story, important dates, a resting place and photographs. Approved memories from relatives, friends, colleagues and community members can become part of the story.

Can family and friends contribute?

Yes. The administrator can share the memorial and invite people to submit a memory or photograph. This makes it possible to collect different perspectives without giving every contributor control of the memorial.

Do contributions appear immediately?

No. New contributions are held privately for review. The memorial administrator approves or declines each submission before it can appear publicly.

Can we edit or remove content later?

The authorised administrator can continue maintaining the memorial. Content may be corrected, expanded or removed when appropriate, while privacy and contributor rights must still be respected.

What if family members disagree about the content?

Life Legacy cannot decide family history or authority. The memorial administrator should pause disputed material, discuss it with the relevant family members and publish only content the family has the right to share.

Who owns the stories and photographs?

Contributors remain responsible for material they submit and must have permission to share it. They allow Life Legacy to store and display approved material as part of the memorial. The controlling family decides what is published.

04

Privacy, access and safety

How personal memories and family control are protected.

Is every memorial public?

No. Memorials begin under family control. The administrator chooses the appropriate visibility and should publish only information suitable for the intended audience.

What information should never be published?

Do not publish identity numbers, financial details, passwords, private addresses, confidential medical information or information that could put a living person at risk. Ask permission before sharing sensitive details about anyone else.

Can a stranger claim our plaque?

Scanning the QR code is not enough to claim a plaque. Activation requires the private activation code or a secure customer invitation. Keep activation information private until the authorised family administrator uses it.

Does Life Legacy sell family information or place adverts on memorials?

No. Life Legacy does not sell family information and memorial pages are designed to remain advert-free. Personal information is used to operate memorials, fulfil plaque orders, provide support, protect access and meet legal obligations.

Can I request correction or deletion of personal information?

Yes. You may ask to access, correct, export or delete personal information, subject to identity verification, legal retention requirements and the rights of other people whose material forms part of the memorial.

05

Packages, payments and support

Choosing the right option and knowing what happens next.

What is included in Essential Memorial?

Essential includes automated self-service setup, the permanent memorial, one QR code plaque, the life story and important dates, up to 50 photographs, moderated family contributions and one memorial administrator.

Why does Signature Memorial cost more?

Signature includes everything in Essential but increases the automated digital capacity: up to 500 photographs, unlimited family contributions, up to five administrators, enhanced memorial layouts and deeper visitor and sharing insights. It includes the same QR code plaque.

How is Legacy Monthly different?

Legacy Monthly gives you the monthly payment option. It provides the Essential Memorial features through 12 monthly payments of R149, including automated secure hosting and storage. The entire creation and management workflow remains self-service.

What happens after the 12th Legacy Monthly payment?

After the 12th successful payment, monthly payments stop automatically. The memorial becomes fully paid and permanent, the QR code plaque continues working, and the family keeps access to all Essential Memorial features. No renewal or ongoing subscription is required.

What happens if a Legacy Monthly payment is missed?

If a scheduled payment fails, the system automatically retries the payment and emails the memorial administrator to explain that the Legacy Monthly payment is outstanding. A seven-day grace period applies. During this period the memorial remains visible, while the administrator sees a prominent Pay now notice. If payment has not been received by the end of day seven, the memorial is temporarily blocked on day eight. Visitors scanning the QR code see only that the memorial is temporarily unavailable; the outstanding balance remains private. The administrator can view the amount due and select Pay now to restore the memorial. A successful payment restores access automatically and immediately. A missed instalment does not count toward the term, so 12 successful payments are still required. Memorial content remains securely stored and is not deleted while payment is outstanding.

What happens if Legacy Monthly payments stop permanently?

If the customer stops paying permanently, the public memorial is no longer accessible. Anyone scanning the QR code sees that the memorial is temporarily unavailable. Life Legacy keeps the family’s stories, photographs and memorial information securely stored; the content is not erased. If the family returns later and pays the outstanding instalment, the memorial is restored with all its original content intact. Monthly payments then continue until 12 successful payments have been completed.

Will someone from Life Legacy build the memorial for me?

No. Life Legacy is designed as an automated self-service product. Clear step-by-step screens guide the authorised family administrator through setup, and family contributions are managed inside the memorial dashboard.

How long does plaque production and delivery take?

Timing depends on material availability, engraving approval, quality checking and the delivery location. Life Legacy confirms the expected schedule with the customer before production proceeds.

How do I get help?

Email support@lifelegacy.co.za with your name, contact details and a clear description of what you need. Never email a password or private activation code. Life Legacy will verify authority before changing protected memorial or plaque information.
